Hi, I'm Steve. My business runs on AI.

I run NorthMac Services, a small company that builds and looks after websites for other businesses. For about the last year, I've been rebuilding it on AI, and today a team of agents handles a huge share of the daily work.

How I got here

For a long time, I made videos and wrote about WordPress, web design, and running a small agency.

Then I went quiet. I was basically in a cave for about a year, because I saw how AI was changing everything and I didn't feel ready to talk about it yet. So I went to work on my own business instead.

I've made plenty of mistakes along the way. But I've also gotten hours of my week back, and I can do things now that would have meant hiring several people a few years ago. I share what's working (and what isn't) on my YouTube channel, and owners started asking if I could help them set up the same thing. That's what Schramm AI is for.

How I think about AI in a business

  • Robot first, then a person.

    If a system can remember the thing and do the thing on its own, that's where it should go. Save your people for the work only people can do.

  • Keep what can't be undone.

    I keep the premise, the promise, the relationship, the money, and anything that can't be undone. Everything else can go to the team.

  • Nothing is done until there's proof.

    An agent telling me it sent the email doesn't count. I want to see it in the Sent folder.

  • People are for relationships. Systems are for management.

    AI is for upsizing! The time it gives back is how a small business grows, and how it hires the people it couldn't afford before.

Most of what I teach on this site comes from my book: Trash, Transfer, Trim, the Five Keeps, proof before done, and the rest. I wrote it for Christians who run a business, so it also covers how I think about AI as a believer.

Schramm AI works with all kinds of businesses and organizations, faith-based or not. You don't need to read the book or share my faith to work with us.
